The story

Vitalinus, heir to the Kingdom of Cornovia, believes he can unite a country broken into rival tribes. His vision is fed by druidic prophecy and a willingness to use the Saxons, Jutes and Angles gathering at Britannia’s shores. Their help may save the island, but the cost could be its future.
Far to the north, Emrys survives a devastating attack and is forced into a world of war, loyalties and dangerous ambition. His path may lead towards a champion for Albion and towards the man later generations will call Arthur.
Historical context
Arthurian legend after the fall of Roman Britain.
Albion is set in 447 AD, a generation after Rome withdrew from Britain. Political authority has fractured between British kingdoms, while Saxon, Jutish and Anglian migration is changing the island’s balance of power.
Rather than beginning with a finished Camelot, the novel imagines how warlords, disputed memories and oral tradition might have produced the earliest outline of Arthur. Its Dark Ages are a contested historical world from which legend gradually emerges.
